5 Ways To Clean Your Party Tents

Due to the large size of some of the party tents your company rents to the public, cleaning them can be quite a hassle. Before choosing a cleaner, make sure to check with your supplier or manufacturer to make sure that you are using an approved cleaner. Ruining a 20 ft. tent because of some of the harsh chemicals in cleaners can be costly to your rental business. Here are 5 methods to keep your party tents looking new and bright for your clients next event:

1. Hand Washing

A bit of a time consuming task, and hard on your arms, but a hands-on method that involves spreading your party tents over several of your folding tables, spraying areas that need cleaning with an approved solution, and wiping them down with a towel can remove that dirt film that starts to build after each party.

2. Use A Mop

Start by spreading your tent out on a large floor area and use a mop bucket filled with an approved solution and start mopping! It's just like cleaning your kitchen floor. Remember to change your water frequently, otherwise you will end up with streaks of dirt across the vinyl fabric of the tent once dried.

3. Washing Machine

If it's in the company's budget, invest in a washing machine developed just for tent fabrics. These tent washers are the best option if your rental company specializes in renting party tents and you keep a large inventory of these on hand. Make sure to research the different models available on the market. Some have been known to cause wear and tear to the vinyl fabric. You want a machine that cleans the fabric, but is gentle enough that it wont hurt your equipment.

4. Ultraviolet Lamps

Rental companies have busy seasons and slow seasons. You may find that when you go to break them out the next year that there are mildew stains on the fabric of the tents. Mildew is a microbiological growth that can be removed with chlorine or by investing in mildew-proofing vinyl fabric tents. Another method for removing mildew from your tents is from an ultraviolet light lamp, also known as a carving lamp. Shine the lamp on the mildew area for up to 20 minutes and watch as it slowly disappears!

5. Acidic Solutions

If your tents have leaf stains on them from fall weddings, solutions like CLR which can be purchased any almost any retail store will remove these. The acid in the solution helps remove the mineral deposits from leaf decays. Start by saturating a towel in the CLR. Lay the towel over the stained area for a while until you start to see the stain vanish. If the leaf decay is being stubborn, the ultraviolet lamp can be used afterwards to finish the task.

Note: Party tents are very expensive and delicate items your rental business keeps in stock. Be gentle when cleaning and make sure the fabric isn't drug across the floor. Small objects like rocks can scuff a small area of the tents fabric and over time can lead to a large hole and a ruined tent. These tents are an investment for your rental business and should be treated with care.
